Beginner Golf Instruction
for
Lady Golfer's

A page dedicated to women golfers especially for ladies who have just started to play golf or those ladies wishing to reduce their handicaps.

Our first free online video of a lady taking beginner golf instruction is Karen. Karen is a local member of the Te Awamutu golf club and plays off a 24 Handicap.

In the first video you will see Karen practising the half shot or pitch shot. This is one of the very first drills we do to help you learn the take away and especially "How we use our hands" in the a perfect swing method.

So before beginning any golf instruction we must start with the "Little shot's".

                               So watch Karen's "pitch" shot

What amazed Karen was the ease in which she could get the ball to "go up". Over 80% of her shots went up with minimal effort. She told me that this was a first for her as most of the time she struggled to get the ball into the air.

So one major break through....learning how to move the golf club to make the golf ball go up....one of the major hurdles for beginner lady golfers.

The 2nd major break through for Karen was in how "straight she was now hitting the Ball". If you pause the video at the end of her back swing you will notice "How Square" her club head is to the ball.

In our golf swing method this is a "normal" and the correct position. To reach this position the hands fold under not across. This folding under or breaking of the wrists is a very natural way of cocking the wrists in the back swing.

Karen commented that this indeed felt very natural for her.

The second golf instruction video is of Karen's full swing from the side

Use the red button's and pause Karen's swing at or near the end. One thing you will notice is a lack of movement in her bottom half....she is flat footed.

The hips and especially the right knee need to move in order to transfer weight. Without any transfer of weight all the hitting is done with the arms.....which in some cases pulls the golfer off balance.

The video below show's better hip and knee action by Karen. Karen's natural swing actually is based on a strong movement of the knee.....but as the top video show's sometimes we just forget!!!

Karen's new golf swing techniques that we are working on are based mainly around her hands and wrists. She already has a great swing just not good technique when delivering the club head into the hitting area.

Watch this Video

As you can see a better result through proper movement of the hips and knees......However the major lesson here is the lack of releasing action of the club head.

What I mean by that......Is Karen looks like she's pulling the club and holding on to the club. The club head needs to be swung..... not held onto. That's why we need to  learn the little shot (top video) so in time we will educate our hands to properly release the club.

Karen's golf swing is as good as any you could wish to see and with the changes that we are making we should see great results.

The last video is of Karen's golf swing from behind

So lets recap

1. Practice the little shot or pitch shot.....this will help you to get the ball up into the air.

2. Your knee's and hips need to move. Your right knee needs to point towards your left knee.

3. You need to release the clubhead with your wrists not your arms
